Lasówka – Masarykova Chata – Orlica – Bohemian Hobbiton – Skicentrum Deštné – Lasówka” is a great option for spending a day on two wheels in the beautiful scenery of our area. Spring has already fully arrived in the nearby Orlické Mountains, forests and glades so it would be a shame not to take advantage of it and enjoy the scent of nature and the singing of birds. Route Description
Section 1: Lasowka and Masarykova Chata
The route starts in the charming
Lasowka. This picturesque village located in the heart of the Eagle Mountains is ideal for lovers of nature and active recreation. There are charming cottages here, as well as numerous hiking and biking trails that lead through beautiful forests and along the Orlice River. From Lasowka we head towards
Masarykova Chata, located at an altitude of 1013 meters above sea level in a vast exposed clearing. Masarykova Chata is a mountain hiking chalet where you can not only refresh yourself before continuing your journey, but also enjoy the magnificent scenery. It’s an exceptionally picturesque area, and this is evidenced by the nearby
Bukačka Forest. It’s called the botanical garden of the Orlické Mountains because of its wealth of plant species. Believe there is something to do and see there! You can find more information about Masarykova Chata on their
website, and we’re off, straight to Orlica!
Part 2: Orlica and the Czech Hobbiton
Orlica is the proudly standing highest peak of the Polish part of the Orlickie Mountains and Central Sudetes. Its height is 1,084 meters above sea level, and the top lies on the Czech side of the border. On Orlica, the beautiful views and panorama take on a different meaning, thanks to the viewing tower at its summit. The
Modern Viewing Tower opened in 2020. It is 25.5 meters high and offers a panoramic terrace from which you can enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding mountain ranges. It is something unique! After enjoying nature, we continue on to our next destination.The next stop on our route is
Czech Hobbiton – a place that is sure to appeal not only to fans of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The complex of houses resembles the village inhabited by the Hobbits from J.R.R. Tolkien’s novels. You can find the burrows of the Hobbits, the Green Dragon inn and the Barrel House. This original and fabulous place will steal the hearts of the youngest bikers. This is a super opportunity for souvenir photos!
Part 3: Skicenter Deštné and return to Lasovka
After a rest in Hobbiton, we set off for Skicentrum Deštné, where many attractions await us, both for cyclists and winter sports enthusiasts. This is a fully equipped winter sports center, where lovers of cross-country skiing, downhill skiing as well as freestyling will find themselves, as there is a first-class, professionally maintained snow park with numerous jumps and obstacles every day. But not only skiers will find themselves here. A cable car for hikers is available at the Deštné Skicenter, allowing you to ascend Studený vrch. From the upper station, you can start further hikes, such as to the observation tower on
Velká Deštná or toward
St. Matthew’s Church. In the summer season, the train also carries bicycles, which opens up more possibilities, routes and adventures. And straight from there, we’re off to Lasovka!
